UNI SIM (Universal Simulation Ltd) was founded in 2019 by James Markey following an Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs (EYE) programme (https://www.erasmus-entrepreneurs.eu/) – a European initiative to pair budding entrepreneurs with established ones, in this case between James Markey and Arnaud Cosson – in France with HRV Simulation (https://hrv-simulation.com/) in 2018.
The company went on to innovate with the first portable haptic and VR training simulator (https://www.nature.com/articles/s41415-021-2825-2) allowing students to train at home during the COVID lockdowns. Furthermore with a cost effective, 3D printable, medial flight simulator, in a desktop format, to make this expensive technology available to all universities (https://www.nature.com/articles/s41415-020-2443-4) across the world.
James Markey, Founder and CEO of UNI SIM, has deployed and trained users of haptics and VR in 32 countries around the world and the technology has impacted tens of thousands of students and hundreds of thousands of patient treatments.

Bio of James Markey:
James Markey is the founder of UNI SIM in the UK, Commercial Director of HRV Simulation in France, and invented the world’s first portable training simulator combining both haptics (virtual touch) and virtual reality (VR) for use with dental and medical simulations before going on to designing the world’s most affordable desktop simulator to provide essential training to everyone.
James lives successfully with Bipolar Disorder and is a media volunteer for Bipolar UK and the creator of Bipolar Bear .app which has helped more than 11,000 people. He is an Export Champion for the Department for Business and Trade (DBT) and also donates his time as a governor at a local school in Guildford. As well as this, he is the founder of Marquis Magic, which aims to bring a smile to places that need it.
