UNI SIM — short for Universal Simulation Ltd — is the UK's first haptic VR studio. We design, manufacture and ship high-fidelity simulators that train dentists, surgeons and clinicians on the procedures they'll perform for the rest of their careers, before they ever touch a patient.
That mission shapes everything: the products we build, the partnerships we hold (including official NHS supplier status), the open-source tools we publish, and the way we hire.
Why haptic VR?
Most medical and dental training still relies on a mix of plastic phantoms, animal tissue and supervised time with real patients. Each of those has trade-offs. Phantoms don't bleed back; tissue is messy and inconsistent; patient access is, rightly, rationed and supervised.
Haptic VR fills the gap between them. A trainee can:
- Practise a procedure dozens of times without consequence.
- Feel the force, resistance and texture of human anatomy through a haptic stylus.
- Get instant, objective feedback on technique, depth and force.
- Repeat the rare or critical scenarios that real clinical rotations might not surface.
The screen isn't a screen any more — it's a clinical instrument. That's the bar we set for every product we build.
What we make
Our product range covers three categories:
- Hardware simulators — from the portable US-Portable to the dual-haptic UNI Dental 4.0.
- SaaS platforms — cloud software for curriculum delivery, analytics and assessment.
- Open source & freeware — drivers, SDKs and frameworks the simulation community can build on.
